Keywords : Distance Learning, Distance Learning Implementation, Teaching English This research is backgound by the of distance learning implementation in English to students. This study aims 1) To describe out of the distance learning implementation process for teaching and learning English at SMPN 02 Kayan Hilir during the Covid -19 pandemic. 2) To find out the obstacles of the distance learning implementation for teaching and learning English at SMPN 02 Kayan Hilir during the Covid-19 pandemic. 3) To find out the impact of the distance learning implementation for teaching and English at SMPN 02 Kayan Hilir during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is qualitative research. The research subjects were the principal, teachers, and five class VIII students. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and document, instrumentation used observation sheet, interview guideline and documentation in the form of written archives and photo documentation. The data analysis used is qualitative data analysis. The research resulted show that the implementation of online and offline distance learning in learning English in class VIII students at SMPN 02 Kayan Hilir has been carried out despited the obstacles and impacts of distance learning, especially during learning. Even so, schools and English teachers and students have solutions. The policy carried out by schools is that by registering students, they get a free quota of 15GB from the Ministry of Education and Culture, teachers provide relief to students in online learning if there are those who are late to attend and remain present. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of distance learning shows good results, the process, obstacles and impacts of implementing distance learning are the learning process during and offline and the way the teacher overcomes the obstacles and impacts has their respective solutions so that English language learning can be carried out effectively good.
