English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Sijono, M.Pd. Advisor II: Ilinawati, M.Pd. Keywords: Writing ability, mind mapping technique, teaching The background in this study is to improve students' writing ability in class X Multimedia students at SMKN 1 Dedai in the 2022/2023 academic year is still relatively low. The low writing ability of students is due to the lack of student participation in class. The purpose of this research was to improve students' writing skills in class X Multimedia at SMKN 1 Dedai. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles and each cycle consists of two meetings. Research data collected through observation, interviews, measurments and documentation. The data collection tools used were observation sheets, field notes, interview sheets, test sheets and video recordings. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman, by collecting data, reducing data (selecting data), displaying data (presenting data), and the last stage is drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that students' writing skills have improved learning from cycle I to cycle II, there is an increase in each meeting in cycle I increased with a score of 62.42% then in cycle II increased with an average score of 82.89%, and (3) the improvement in students writing skills occured in learning by applying mind mapping technique so that students could write procedure text correctly. This shows that the mind mapping technique can improve students' writing ability.
