Rizqi, Nadia. 2022. Enhancing The Students’ Ability in Learning Narrative Text Through Picture Book at SMPN 2 Satap Embaloh Hulu. Thesis. English Education Study Program STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa. Advisor I: Henry Elisa, M.Pd., Advisor II: Sijono, M.Pd. Keywords: narrative text, picture book, reading This research aimed to describe the process at teaching reading narrative text and to know how can picture book media improve the students’ reading comprehension. The subjects of this research are the students in VIII grade at SMPN 2 Embaloh Hulu and consist of 11 students in which there are 6 males and 5 females. In this research the researcher conducted the research by using classroom action research. This research used qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data will be collected from observation, interview, and documentation whereas for quantitative data the researcher used a written test to get students’ scores. The result showed that there were an increased in both of students’ participation and students’ ability in learning narrative text. It could be seen from the results of the observation checklist, field note, interviews and test. In cycle II the results of observation checklist was 94.64% meanwhile the students’ average score in cycle II was 81.54%. It could be concluded that picture book media could increase the students’ participation and students’ reading comprehension.
