Silve,Treliena.2024.Enhancing Writing Descriptive Text Through The EGRA Technique Among Tenth Grade Students At Sman 3 Sekadau Hilir In TheAcademic Year 2023/2024.Thesis, English Language Education Study Program. STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Yokie Prasetya Dharma,M.Pd.BI, Advisor II: Henry Elisa,M.Pd. Keywords: egra; descriptive text ; writing skill This research is motivated by the importance of enhancing students' ability and motivation in writing descriptive texts, which is one of the core competencies in English learning. The purpose of this study is to improve the descriptive text writing skills of tenth-grade students at SMAN 3 Sekadau Hilir by using the EGRA (Exposure, Generalization, Reinforcement, and Application) technique. The research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) and gathers data through both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were collected from observation sheets, field notes, and interviews, while quantitative data were obtained from tests that assessed students' writing progress. The research findings are as follows: (1) The teaching process using the EGRA technique resulted in positive student engagement, with an engagement score of 88.16% in cycle II; (2) Students' writing skills improved significantly, with an average score of 81% in cycle II. These results demonstrate that the EGRA technique is effective in improving both students' writing skills and the overall learning process. Therefore, this research is considered successful as it has met the predetermined criteria of success. The implication is that the EGRA approach should be extended to enhance students' writing abilities in various text formats, given its proven effectiveness. Future research could explore its impact on other linguistic skills such as speaking and reading. Additionally, integrating EGRA with technology or blended learning may further enhance engagement and efficacy in English instruction.
