Abstract
Emotional intelligence is related to the ability to recognize one's own emotions and the feelings of others, the ability to motivate oneself, and the ability to manage emotions well in oneself and in relationships with others. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in Indonesian language learning at SD Negeri 18 Ladang, Sintang Regency, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is a quantitative approach. The form of research is correlation. The location of the research is SD Negeri 18 Ladang, Sintang Regency. The population in this study was 40 students of SD Negeri 18 Ladang. The sampling technique was saturated sampling. Data collection techniques used indirect communication techniques and measurement techniques. The data collection tools were questionnaires and test question sheets. The results of the study showed that (1) the average emotional intelligence was 75.03, included in the high category, (2) the average critical thinking ability was 56.25, included in the medium category, (3) there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and students' critical thinking abilities with the results of the correlation test of 0.926 included in the very strong category and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.00 <0.05. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and critical thinking abilities of fourth-grade students in Indonesian Language learning at SD Negeri 18 Ladang, Sintang Regency, in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This study is expected to provide an understanding of the importance of developing emotional intelligence in students to improve students' critical thinking abilities.
