Trisnawati, W. (2022) Using Mnemonic Technique to Improve Students English Vocabulary for the Tenth Grade at SMK Negeri 1 Belimbing Hulu. Thesis, English Education Study Program STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Tuti, M.Pd., Advisor II: Sijono, M.Pd.Keywords: Ability Improvement, Mnemonic Technique, Vocabulary The objective of this research is to describe the improvement of the student‟s participation and vocabulary mastery in learning activities through the implementation of the mnemonic technique. This research was carried out due to the students having low motivation in learning. Besides, they got a problem in mastering and memorizing the vocabulary. The research used the classroom action research method; the data of this research was analyzed in both qualitative and quantitative methods. In this research, the researcher used observation, test, interview, and documentation techniques to collect the data. The tools of data collection techniques are observation sheets, test sheets, interview guidelines, and field notes. The research‟s results showed that there is an improvement in the student‟s vocabulary mastery and participation in learning activities. In cycle one, the average score of students‟ vocabulary was 65 and in cycle two was 80.22. The student‟s participation in learning activities was also improved; in cycle one was 67.98% while in cycle two was 92.26%. It can be concluded that the mnemonic technique could improve the student‟s participation in learning activities, especially for tenth-grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Belimbing Hulu.
