Umi Umayah. 2021, An Error Analysis in Writing Descriptive Text in SMA Nusantara Indah in the Academic Year 2021/2022. Thesis, English Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Henry Elisa, M.Pd., Advisor II. Sijono, M.Pd.Keywords: descriptive text, simple present tense, writing The aims is to classify the kinds of errors found in writing descriptive text, to recognize the most common errors found, and to describe the factors that causes the students to make errors. The problems faced by the students are the students did not master and low English vocabulary; the students did not understand the arrangement of grammar in English sentences; the students did not have much time to study descriptive text; the students did not know the structure and elements of descriptive text, especially in using simple present tense; and the students have difficulty in translating Indonesian sentences into English sentences. The method used in this research was qualitative method. The subject of this research was the 20 writing descriptive text of the students at class X. The data collection technique of this research used documentation and interview. The instrument of data collection used students‟ worksheet and interview guideline. Based on the results, the researcher found four types of errors consist of 20.8% errors of omission, 4% errors of addition, 73.2% errors of misinformation, and 2% errors of misordering. The researcher suggested that the students were required to memorize English vocabulary every time they learned English, before the classes started. This was intended so that the students memorized a lot of English vocabulary, so that they have no difficulty to write descriptive text.
