This research aims to discover the improvement of students writing ability of self- introduction by using the mind mapping technique. The focus of this research is to improve students‟ writing of self-introduction. The research background is that writing ability is important because it involves ability and knowledge. In this research, the researcher concludes the research problem during the classroom activity, such as capitalization errors, grammar, content, structure of sentences, and generalization. The subject of the research fiveteen students divide six male and nine female. Mind mapping technique to assist the students during learning activity and this research design is classroom action research (CAR). The result is that many students find it difficult to learn about writing ability, especially self-introduction, to express their idea during the learning process. However, the students can implement the mind mapping technique for writing self-introduction for the final result. The data analysis technique is qualitative and quantitative; qualitative includes observation, field notes, interviews, and quantitative tests. Data collection has the process, and divide two processes are measurement and observation technique to collect the research data. The result of the research is for cycle one; the data was 33,3% students percentage pass KKM 62,67 for student mean score and cycle two was 86,67% students percentage pass KKM 87,3 for student mean score.
