Abstract
Novita Asmarika, 2026. Improving Students' Writing Skills Through Series Picture Media in Grade II at SDN 29 Nenak Tembulan Sintang in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Thesis, Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. First Supervisor: Agusta Kurniati, M.Pd. Second Supervisor: Gabriel Serani, S.S.,M.Hum., M.Pd. Keywords: writing skills, series picture media, elementary school students. Based on the results of preliminary observations conducted on Grade II students at SDN 29 Nenak Tembulan Sintang, it was found that the students' writing skills were still relatively low. Some students experienced difficulties in composing simple sentences, using appropriate vocabulary, writing sentences sequentially
according to the pictures, and applying correct spelling and punctuation. This study aimed to determine the implementation of Indonesian language learning using series picture media to improve students' writing skills, determine the improvement of students' writing skills after the implementation of series picture
media, and determine students' responses to the use of series picture media in Indonesian language learning. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 14 Grade II students at SDN 29 Nenak Tembulan Sintang. Data collection
techniques included direct observation, measurement, direct communication, and documentation. The instruments used were observation sheets, writing skill tests, interview guidelines, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that the implementation of series picture media could improve students' writing skills. In the first cycle, the students' average score was 74.29, with a classical mastery percentage of 84%, while in the second cycle, the average score increased to 91.57, with classical mastery reaching 100%. In addition, students' responses to
the implementation of series picture media were positive. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the use of series picture media can improve the writing skills of Grade II students at SDN 29 Nenak Tembulan Sintang in the 2025/2026 academic year. Series picture media helps students understand the sequence of events, develop ideas, compose simple sentences, and increase their interest and participation in learning.
