Deni Irma Suryani. 2025. Improving Students' Reading Comprehension of Narative Text Through Guided Reading Strategy. Thesis. English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa. Advisor I: Ferdinanda Itu Meo, M.Pd., Advisor II:Tuti, M.Pd Keywords: guided reading strategy, narrative text, reading comprehension The main problem in this research is the students experience difficulties in understanding texts and new vocabulary meaning in English due to limited knowledge of English structure and vocabulary. The purpose of this research to describe the improvement of students’ reading comprehension through guided reading strategy. The method used is classroom action research, and the techniques are measurement and observation. The result show that there is an improvement in students’ reading comprehension from cycle I with an average score of 53,88 to cycle II with an average score increasing to 85,19. It can be conclude that the guided reading strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension, especially for VIII grade students of SMPN 05 Kayan Hulu. This strategy is expected to improve students’ raeding ability, enhance the quality of education by using guided reading strategy, and inspire learning innovation for teacher and other researchers to developmore effective learning innovation.
