Abstract
Pidi Sumitro, 2024, Teaching Writing Procedure Text Through PictureSeries for Eleventh Grade Students at Senior High School 1 Tempunak. Thesis, English. Langugae Education Study Program. STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Sijono, M.Pd, Advisor II: Ferdinanda Itu Meo, M.Pd. Keywords: picture series, writing, skill Based on preliminary observations, the researcher found that there was a lack of student participation in learning, especially in writing procedural texts, which were often perceived as difficult and confusing. This research aimed to describe student participation and the improvement of students' writing skills in procedural text learning through the implementation of sequential image media in class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Tempunak. This research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a design by Kurt Lewin, developed by Burns, combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative data was obtained through observations, interviews, field notes, and documentation, while quantitative data were collected through writing tests. The qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification, while the quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the research showed a significant improvement in student participation in the second cycle, as well as an increase in the average score of students' procedural writing skills. Based on these findings, it was concluded that the use of sequential image media was effective in enhancing student participation and the ability to write procedural texts. Further research is expected to explore the use of sequential image media in different learning contexts or with students of varied proficiency levels to broaden the application of these findings.
