Lusia. 2023. Improving Students‟ Vocabulary Mastery Through Total Physical Response Method At Eight Grade In SMP Joseph Khatulistiwa. Thesis, English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Henry Elisa, M.Pd. Advisor II: Ilinawati M.Pd.
Keywords: classroom action research, total physical response, vocabulary mastery The aim of this research is to improve the students' learning participation and vocabulary mastery through Total Physical Response method. The subjects of this research were 25 students which consisted of 15 males and 10 females at the eight grade of SMP Joseph Khatulistiwa. This research used Classroom Action Research design. Qualitative data collected through observation checklist, field notes, and interview. While quantitative data collected through a test. The results of the study show, there were positive improvements both in the students' learning participation and vocabulary mastery. It could be seen from the data from observation checklist, field notes, interview and test. In cycle I based on the results of the observation checklist were 63% and for the results of the students‟ average score is 43.5. While in cycle II the result of the observation checklist were 84%, and the result of the students‟ average score is 78. Based on the results of this research the Total Physical Response can improve students' participation and vocabulary mastery.
