Abstract
Ita Fatimatus Zaroh. 2022, The Teachers’ Perception in Teaching English for Junior High School in Sintang During COVID-19. Thesis. English Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa. Advisor I: Tuti, M.Pd, Advisor II: Thomas Joni Verawanto Aristo, M.Pd. The teachers face many challenges in preparing lessons during the COVID-19 outbreak. Challenges such as teachers are required to be able to adapt in difficult situations and prepare learning activities interestingly and optimally. The purpose of this study is to explore teachers’ perception in teaching escpecially in teaching preparation because there is still lack of literature about this. The subjects of this study were 30 English teachers in junior high schools in Sintang. The researcher used a convergent mixed-method design in this study. The research collected quantitative and qualitative data in one phase. The techniques were questionnaire and interview. The results showed that the teacher's perception was in the positive category with a total score range of 2630 or 76.23%. Even the perception of the feeling indicator reached 100% in the very high category. The results of the interview showed that in preparing learning materials, teachers followed health protocols and government policies. Teachers also had good knowledge in teaching preparation such as learning materials, learning objectives, teaching methods and teaching evaluation processes in teaching during COVID-19.
