Itania Khong. 2022. The Use Of Think-Pair-Share (TPS) Technique To Improve Reading Comprehension For Twelfth Grade Students Of SMA Negeri 4 Sintang, Thesis. English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa. Advisor I: Yokie Prasetya Dharma, M.Pd. B.I, Advisor II: Sijono, M.Pd.Keywords: Classroom Action Research, Reading Comprehension, TPS Technique The problem of this reasearch was recognized from the result of pre-observation. The researcher got the difficulty in reading comprehension especially in comprehending the content of a passage of students. The aim of this research is to find the improvement of Twelfh Grade Students in Reading Comprehension using Think-Pair-Share Technique. It was focused on students’ reading comprehension in news item text. The subject in this research were the students of XII IPA which consist of 25 students of the twelfh grade at SMA Negeri 4 Sintang. This research arranged classroom action research as research design that be held in two cycles. The research used qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected from observation, interview, and documentation. Then, quantitative data were collected from the scores of students’ written test. The result showed that there were an improvement in students’ participation and students’ ability in learning reading comprehension. It could be seen from the results of observation sheet, field notes, interview, and test. The students participation and students score have improved from first cycle to second cycle. It could be concluded that the use of think-pair-share technique succeeded in improving reading comprehension at XII IPA of SMA Negeri 4 Sintang. Finally, the Think-Pair- Sharetechnique became the recommendation to other researcher who want improve students reading comprehension. The teacher must encourage students to actively participate in the text analysis process using TPS technique. The researcher's final suggestion is to conduct the same research with other text types and sample.
