Abstract
Elvi, 2026, The Use of Quizizz Digital to Improve Vocabulary Mastery For Eighth Grade Students at SMP Negeri 3 Sintang. Thesis, English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Tuti, M.Pd, Advisor II: Ferdinanda Itu Meo, M.Pd. Keywords: CAR, Quizizz, Vocabulary mastery This research aimed to discover the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery and students’ participation through the implementation of Quizizz Digital for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Sintang. The researcher conducted this
research to solve the problems faced by students in Class VIII A, particularly their difficulties in understanding, pronouncing, spelling, memorizing, and using English vocabulary. This research employed a Classroom Action Research design consisting of two cycles: Cycle I and Cycle II. Each cycle included four stages:
planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. To collect the data, the researcher used observation, interviews, measurement, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of an observation checklist, field notes, interview guidelines, vocabulary tests, and video recordings. The findings revealed that the
implementation of Quizizz Digital improved both students’ vocabulary mastery and classroom participation. The students’ average vocabulary score increased from 61.81% in Cycle I to 75.60% in Cycle II. In addition, students’ participation
and positive responses improved significantly, as indicated by the observation checklist results, which reached 89.58% in Cycle II. Students became more enthusiastic, actively involved in classroom activities, and more confident in pronouncing, spelling, understanding meanings, and memorizing English vocabulary. The use of Quizizz Digital also created a more interactive and
enjoyable learning environment, encouraging students to participate actively throughout the lessons. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends that English teachers use Quizizz Digital as an alternative learning medium to improve students’ vocabulary mastery by providing engaging activities and encouraging active participation during the teaching and learning process.
