Abstract
Anggi Tria Rukimin. 2025. The Effect of Using Comic-Based Pop-Up Book Media on Students’ Learning Outcomes in Mathematics for Grade III at SDN 12 Sintang. Undergraduate Thesis, Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Supervisor I: Dessy Triana Relita, M.Pd. Supervisor II: Olenggius Jiran Dores, M.Pd.

The background of this research is the low student learning outcomes due to the lack of engaging and suitable learning media for students' characteristics. This study aims to determine the effect of using Pop-Up Book comic-based media on student learning outcomes in Mathematics, specifically on measurement material for third-grade students at SD Negeri 12 Sintang. The research method used is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consists of an experimental class using Pop-Up Book comic-based media and a control class using conventional methods. The research instruments include learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest) and student response questionnaires. The data analysis results show that at the initial measurement (pretest), there was a significant difference between the experimental group with an average score of 60.45 and the control group with an average score of 53.20, with a sig. value of 0.015 < 0.05. At the final measurement (posttest), there was also a significant difference, with the experimental group averaging 71.91 and the control group averaging 73,33 with a sig. value of 0.008 < 0.05. Additionally, the learning outcomes of students in the control class increased from 53.20 to 60.40 with a sig. value of 0.010 < 0.05, while in the experimental class, the increase was higher, from 60.45 to 71.91 with a sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05. This proves that the use of Pop-Up Book comic-based media has a positive and significant effect on improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. The student response questionnaire results showed an average score of 85% in the very good category. More than 80% of students felt happy, motivated, and found it easier to understand the material with the help of Pop-Up Book comic-based media. Thus, this media is suitable for use as an alternative learning medium, especially for abstract Mathematics material.
