Dharma, M.Pd.B.I Advisor II : Tuti,M.Pd. Keywords: Car, directed reading thinking activity, reading comprehension. The problem of this research is the lack of students reading comprehension. The.Purpose of this research is to improve students’ reading comprehension by using Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy. The subject of this research were 16 students of tenth grade at SMK Negeri 1 Belitang Hilir consisted of 7 males and 9 females. This research used a Classroom Action Research design consisted of qualitative data and quantitative data. The instrument of qualitative data through observation checklist, field notes and interview. Meanwhile, quantitative data, researcher used test to calculate student score. The results showed, there were positive improvements both in the students; learning participation and students’ reading comprehension. It could be seen from the data from observation checklist, field note, interview and test. In the cycle1, based on result of the observation checklist were 53% and for the result of student average score is 58. Meanwhile, in the cycle II the result of the observation checklist is 95% and the result of student average score is 78. In conclusion, the use Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy is succesfully improve reading comprehension.
