Abstract

The Purpose of this research is to increase students interest and achievement
using contextual approach of science class grade IV in SD Negeri 22 SP5 SKPH Manis
Raya academic year 2017/2018. This is a classroom action research conducted in two
cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages i.e planning, implementation, observation, and
reflection. Subjects research is 37 students in class IV SD Negeri 22 SP5 SKPH Manis
Raya. The data is collected by paper test and interest questionnaires. The results shows,
student interest on the cycle I amount 2,73 dan cycle II amount 3,31. While the students'
achievement in cycle I average values obtained 59.48 and in cycle II obtained an average
of 70.81 so as to obtain an average increase amount 11.32. Based on the research, it can
concluded that application learning with contextual approach can increase student's
interest and achievement of science class grade IV SD Negeri 22 SP5 SKPH Manis Raya
academic year 2017/2018.
