Ata Dina Sari, 2024. Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Using Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) At Eighth Grade In SMP Nusantara Indah Sintang. Thesis, English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Advisor I: Ferdinanda Itu Meo, M.Pd. Advisor II: Tuti, M.Pd.

The problem of this research is the lack of students vocabulary mastery. The aim of this research is to improve the students' participation and students vocabulary mastery using Picture Word Inductive Model. The subjects of this research were 12 students which consisted of 3 males and 9 females at the eighth grade in SMP Nusantara Indah Sintang. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research, there were two cycles and each cycle involved four steps: planning, acting, observation, and reflection. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) uses both of qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data collected from observation, field notes, and interview. While quantitative data collected use a test. In cycle I based on the results of the observation checklist were the results of the students’ participation average score was 51,78%. While in cycle II the result of the observation checklist was 81,21%. The result of the students average score in cycle 1 was 48,95 and the researcher continue to cycle 2 was 80,72%. Based on the results of this research it is showed the Picture Word Inductive Model can improve students' participation and students’ vocabulary mastery. For the teachers, it is hoped that this method can help teachers improve students' vocabulary mastery and learning interest, by using picture words makes learning more interesting and effective.
